Horrible Bowl Design for KFPW760WH

My wife loves this machine but the second replacement bowl has broken in the same spot and the bowl is now out of stock. In addition it's not the same replacement part number as listed in the maual which makes buying very confusing. Expensive, difficult to use, poor web site for replacement parts and the quality is not in line with the expense. Looks like we have to shop brands now.

Third replacement bowl in two years!

I really like everything about this food processor except for the bowl. I have had to replace it twice, and it looks like the current one is about to break in exactly the same spot. I am not rough on my appliances, so there has to be a defect in this work bowl. At over $50 a bowl, I will not replace it again. Very poor design, and very hard to use the bowl.

Flimsy Plastic Handle

I've used this KitchenAid food processor for 10 years and had great luck. However, the plastic portion of the bowl handle chipped and now there's no way to make it work. I can't find the replacement part for the bowl ANYWHERE :( I'd love to continue to use the food processor and not be wasteful of a motor that is still in great shape. So frustrating!

I have always loved KitchenAid products, but this bowl's plastic handle just broke - a piece chipped off. I have always handled it carefully and hand washed or put in the upper rack of the dishwasher with no heat. The rest of the food processor is doing just fine. I cannot believe the price for a replacement! At this rate I am thinking to just buy a Cuisinart.

The larger sized working bowl is poorly designed. It is not attaching properrly anymore any pieces have broken off of the handle. The processor will not activate because it's all shattered on the bottom.

Kitchenaid 12cup work bowl cover (lid)
rancilio
7/5/2019
We are our 5th broken KFPM770NK1 food processor cover (lid) and 3rd bowl over about 10 years. The cover's complicated plastic mechanism within the handle breaks even with extreme care during use. I disassembled the latest broken mechanism in an attempt to make repairs and avoid having to buy another expensive, and apparently by the fact that most of the mechanisms easily break, defective design. The food processor base/motor is well made and appears that it will last forever. Such a pity that the bowl and cover are poorly made/designed. Supposedly the new model bowl and cover are a better design.

handle on bowl is so flimsy

We used to use this at least once per month. Now we drag it out a couple times a year as I'm the only one in the family who has patience for the flimsy, cracked handle. It has to be in the EXACT position in order to function. I love Kitchen Aid, but I'm really thinking of going with another brand for our next purpose. Our Kitchen Aid's professional mixer's motor just died too.

$40 for cheap plastic bowl?
KCdisappointed
6/25/2019
Like others I have mold in my bowl handle and would like to replace it since there is absolutely no way to clean it out. My feed tube has dropped on the ground a few times and is damaged. I am absolutely shocked to replace the bowl on its own cost over $40 and doesn't include the top or feeding tube. After adding in $10 for the top and another $10 for feeding tube it will cost me over $60 to replace cheap plastic that grows mold plus whatever they would be charging for shipping. I might as well apply that $60 towards a new food processor and it will NOT be a KitchenAid

I really like this food processor if the bowl would hold up better.
This is the 3rd one that I have had, and at this price, if this one
breaks within 2 years, I will not buy a replacement. I will go to home depot and buy one of theirs. Otherwise, it is a great food processor.

Mold in handle
Winefred

I got this as a gift and did not use it right away. When I did start using it I loved it, it was so much better than any I had, had before until I noticed mold in the handle. Apparently food had gotten in the clear handle and did not wash out. I tried taking it apart to clean but there was no way to get into it and now I can not replace the cap that I took off.

Breaks, just like everyone else's

Bought the food processor because of good reviews and consumer reports recommendedation back in the day. Working bowl didn't last long and the handle started falling apart. I babied it until it finally fell apart. Looking for replacement, I stumbled upon this site and lo and behold, looks like I will be getting something else instead. Thank you everyone for saving me from wasting my $$ on a product that breaks.

I bought all of the "Martha Stewart" kitchenaid stuff that Macys carried when I got married almost 10 years ago. That included the food processor. I dont use it THAT often but within the first couple of uses there was broken plastic that had come from some where inside the clear handle jingling around...after that EVERY time I use it it take 30 tires to get the bowl on there right so it will start! I had called to ask about getting a new bowl but they only offered it in white and dark blue. Mine is a special edition "Martha Stewart Blue" so I never got it. I cant get the bowl to engage anymore because so much of it has just broken apart so I came on here to see about getting a new one. Glad I read the reviews! I thought it was just my rotten luck that the thing disintegrated over time! So I guess its time to go shopping for a new food processor because I am NOT paying these prices for it to do the same thing again! You may think...10 years?! that lasted a long time...9 of those years it hasn't worked as it should and I should have thrown it away 9 years ago!

Good base but awful work bowl

I have had my Kitchen Aid processor for awhile but the bowl broke within a couple of months, with only occasional use. I thought it would last for a long time, but I was very disappointed. I can use it if I pull the lever back in the handle with my thumb and manually hold it there, and then turn it on. Very bad design flaw after reading all the reviews. I will not buy another bowl, Too bad the base is still a powerhouse! I am asking "Santa" for a Cuisinart.

As many others have stated, the plastic cracks so easily. Even with me washing by hand and limiting the times I put it int the dishwasher. On my second bowl and that is starting to crack. Was looking to buy yet another replacement but after reading the other reviews, stating the same thing. I'm am considering buying a cuisinart instead.

Let me add my voice to those whose bowl handles have cracked and splintered making it impossible for the bowl to engage. Only by pinching the handle and slamming the bowl into position can I activate processing. All these complaints should tell you that your product is defective.

I have replaced the bowl twice and the same thing happens, it just seems to crumble. The worst part is the handle. The plastic falls apart. I purchased a new bowl last year and have had to baby the bowl each time to get it to work. I can no longer get the handle to engage. I came back to your site to order another and have decided that I refuse to pay 70-100 dollars for garbage. Seems to e that Kitchen Aid would back the products they sell or at least recall the parts. I am so upset that I have to even write this. The model number of this food processor is kfp740qwh3

I see the same complaint over and over in the reviews. My handle is cracking into pieces so I am looking to replace the bowl. $60 - $100! No way am I paying that. I will go to Costco and buy a new Cuisinart. And this Kitchenaid will be another piece of junk for the landfill just because the plastic bowl is too expensive to replace? Disgraceful. Hey Kitchenaid, here's a thought...how about a recall and you replace the junk you sold us? Too bad there isn't zero stars.

Paid top dollar for the Architect series processor at Macy's and within a month all of the plastic on this bowl started cracking...the piece on the handle/inside handle broke, so in order to get the machine to work at all I have to rig it so the broken plastic sticks in to engage. I've lived with this for a few years, angry at having spent so much money for such a piece of junk. Today, I went to mix flour for pie crust and the degradation of the plastic around the lid rim just lets flour spew all out of the bowl. Came here to consider replacing said piece of junk but will NOT pay another $70+ for bowl and lid etc. Will NOT be buying KA again...Should have stuck with trusty Cuisinart - my mom's has lasted decades.

I have only used this food processor a few times and the bowl is broken. The unit will not turn on because the handle completely fell apart. So disappointed, I thought the Kitchenaid would be an upgrade to the cheaper brand that I had used for years (and finally wore out).

Bowl is not well made at all
Test Kitchen Cooker

Well mine broke like every one else's as well. Started with broken latch. But I continued to baby it along until the entire handle flew apart. I thought kitchen aid was known for quality but this bowl is just terrible. Now I have an expensive useless foot processor just when I need it most with the approaching holidays. Loved it while the bowl was in one piece. Everything else seems to be made well. But this bowl is a fail.

Poor Quality Work Bowl

My sister purchased this for me as a gift. At the time of purchase she got one for herself as well. About a month ago she had to replace her work bowl because the latch won't permit the bowl to latch firmly onto the unit. Now, I'm having that same issue. I use my processor only once in a while and I always wash by hand. Maybe it's the design that needs work. It seems that this piece is not well made.

Just had my second bowl break after two years of very light use. Like everyone else reviewing here, I had the handle break into many pieces and render the unit unusable. The rest of the food processor is fine, but there is no way I'm going to keep buying easily-breaking replacement bowls. Looks like I made a bad purchase. I'll try another brand next time.

We have had our food processor for at least 7 years, and we use it quite a bit. Even though I have asked that it not be put in the dishwasher, I have found it there several times. Today I noticed the handle look loose and a piece of plastic chipped out, when I picked it up the handle fell apart. I was able to put it back together and it has held so far without tape. I have no complaints about the processor or work bowl.It runs great, and we have not been exactly gentle on it...ie: dropped the lid...no cracks. We really like our Kitchen Aide...as with any product I expect after years of use, things wear out and will need to be replaced. That's what brought me here, to see if I could find a replacement work bowl ....glad to see we can replace the bowl without having to purchase a new processor.

I need a bowl that LASTS!
9/19/2017
This has been a kitchen essential in my house and I love the color (cobalt blue!) it matches very well it is a great size and it is perfect for going in and out of the dish soap because I use it too often to go in dishwasher- Unfortunately the bowl is like the cheapest disposable plastic and it broke once, I replaced it, And that cracked, and I used insta glue to fix it but now it's broken again and I'm wondering after seeing all the other bad reviews if I should even think about getting yet another one, having to baby it or look at double replacements costs vs a new one. Maybe I will go with a another brand.

I have always enjoyed kitchen aid products however this pitcher for the food processor is horrible. This is 2nd time I've had to replace it. The processor will not run unless it latches on. This part is a cheap plastic that continues to break. So you have no choice but to order a replacement part.

The worst
11/20/2016
This is my third bowl in 8 years. The bowl cracks easily and the top part where the lid fits in breaks easily. I don't use my food processor enough to have to replace it so often. I'm pretty gentle with it, but I suspect it shouldn't be put in the dishwasher, even though it says dishwasher safe. I'm replacing this bowl, giving the entire unit to a friend, then buying a Breville. The unit also doesn't work when I put warm/hot food in it to process. The motor just shuts off.

Having the same problem as others. The work bowl handle broke. I had to "baby" this for a long time, hand wash, etc. Should have reported immediately but put up with it. Now's it's broke - grrrr. This is the second Kitchen Aid Food Processor I've bought. My first one lasted 10 years - I only changed to get a different colour and gave away the old one.

I have only used this bowl a few dozen times over the years. The interlock mechanism in the handle engages initially (sometimes), then disengages after the processor runs for a few seconds. If I rotate the lid a fraction of an inch, the unit begins to run again, starting the process all over again.
