Best toaster I've ever bought

I bought this a month ago and use it for long toast slices, small baguette toasting and homemade bread toasting. It has a "keep warm" function and it has several timing settings. Crumb tray is easy to remove and overall the toaster is beautiful and slides off to the side of the counter.

When it works, it awesome!

I've had this toaster about four years now. I purchased it at Macy's. I needed a four slice toaster and I wanted it to match my KA mixer that also sits on the counter. In the beginning, I LOVED it. Then, gradually it began to be less reliable. For the last two years, 1 doesn't toast. 2 sometimes sorta toasts. 3 might toast the first time around (sometimes) but then absolutely burn if you have to do a second set. I've finally had enough and am incredibly disappointed that I have to look for a new toaster.

Exactly what I expected

We've had this toaster for a few weeks and it's exactly what I thought it would be. I read some reviews about the plastic packaging pieces in the toaster melting and giving off a 'burnt plastic' smell; but I removed the plastic pieces before using and haven't had that issue (and the toaster seems to work just fine without them). The only thing I wish I had realized is that this toaster either has to be flush against the back wall of the counter, horizontally; or it has to be on the rightmost side of the counter, vertically oriented, and not the left side of the counter. I purchased this toaster to put flush against my left-most wall of the counter, but since the lever is on the right, it would be against the wall. Now we have it against the back wall of the counter (horizontally, with the knob facing us) and it works. It's just not where we had hoped to place it.

So far it's working great. There were a couple of small plastic pieces inside that I took out with a pair of hemostats, thought they might melt when using the toaster and I didn't want the smell in the house. The design is a little bulkier than what I like, but over all it's doing what it's suppose to do, toast, and pretty evenly I might add.

It toasts both sides the same

Out of 3 new toasters we have tried, this is the only one that toasts both sides evenly. It's not perfect, in that the difference between a 1 and 2 setting is too large, but the high lift feature lets you customize your toasting(albeit manually).

Not To Happy!

I bought this toaster after buying a new KitchenAid Gas Range and KitchenAid Dishwasher. I was very disappointed, it only toast the bread like it should be on the inside of the slots and on the outside of the slots it hardly toast at all. If I turned it up it would burn. Called KitchenAid and talked to sweetest sales representative and she said they would send me a different toaster. My new toaster came, but is no better when the toast comes up I take it out and turn them around, You can only leave them down for a short time or they get really DARK! I am still really disappointed but I don't know what else to do. I could have probably bought a toaster for $25.00 and it would have worked better. I trusted KitchenAid to deliver a product like their Gas Range and Dishwasher.

Pretty but dumb

We've owned this toaster for 33 days ( 3 days over the return window) and used it daily. Disaster from day one. I thought... Learning curve? I've never gone above a level 3 on the settings and this still manages to burn things. Toaster waffles are the worst-- burnt edges, soggy middle. This thing is sleek and sturdy looking (2 stars for looks), but it's a pretty terrible toaster. Before this toaster, I had a $30 model from Walmrt that lasted 10 years! I waited so patiently for that toaster to fail; I had been eyeing this model. Incredibly disappointing :(

I've had this toaster for a few months now and it's terrible. It burns one side of the toast and the other side comes out very light. I have to set the dark/light knob on 4 to toast one side and then flip it end over end and run another cycle and toast the other side. Why can't you people just make a toaster without all the defrost/bagel/warm bs and just toast a slice of bread normally like we used to do in the old days?!

Bought about a month ago. Not very happy with it. Does not toast both sides of bread evenly. If used 2 or more times back to back, second piece of toast is cooked much darker (usually burnt) than the first. It is not easy to compensate for that with the adjustment dial.

Love the beautiful Kichenaid design. It works very well, but doesn't toast real dark, even on the darkest setting. I also would like a feature that if you are not using both extra long slots (say with one regular slice) you could deactivate one slot side. Otherwise love it. Can't get toast quite right

I got this toaster to replace another Kitchenaid model that kept breaking at the handle. I liked that it seemed sturdier and could do artisan bread. However, I can't quite get the bread as perfectly toasty as the other model and I'm bummed. It's either too soft or too hard. Also, my husband likes his toast harder than mine. We can't toast at the same time, as both slots get the same result.

Worth the price

Love this toaster! Not only does it look beautiful in my new kitchen but it works great. Has several browning settings that actually do make a diffrence in how done your bread gets. Had an issue with the first one I ordered. Called Kitchenaid and they replaced within a couple of days completely hassle free. Very nice and efficient service.

It's sleek design looks great in our kitchen

Love the way it toasts. The slots are so accommodating to wide and thin slices and still manages to toast all the bread evenly. The cleaning tray makes it so quick and easy for clean-up.

Good toaster

I like that this toaster has extra long slots to accommodate long slices of bread. The only complaint I have is that after 9 months it stopped working. However kitchenaid has excellent customer service and sent out a replacement under the warranty. Glad to know that there are still companies out there that stand behind their products.

Fits A Slice of Rye!

I was looking for a toaster that would fit a slice of rye without curling it. This is perfect for one slice of rye in each slot. It will also toast 4 regular slices of bread. My problem is with the actual toasting. I found that setting 4 will toast my bread perfectly. However, if I use the toaster again to toast additional slices, the same setting will burn my toast enough to set off my smoke alarm! You must use a lower setting for the next set of toast! For $80, the toaster should toast consistently!
