Paint Flaked

I have the Professional 550 Plus and make bread dough on a regular basis. The paint started to flake off the bottom of the dough hook and I had to stop using it to prevent paint from getting in the dough. I ended up throwing it away. I would prefer the stainless steel dough hook.

The coating was a bit easier to clean than the plain metal spiral dough hooks in my two Professional 600 6-quart mixers.. But it started to flake off so I had to toss it. KitchenAid did not care about my complaint that bits of paint were shed into my bread. I called, then wrote. KitchenAid has been so helpful on other issues; I was shocked. Maybe they have fixed the coating, but they were not saying anything.
