Great mixer except for the misaligned beater

Loved my mixer, but I could not get the beater to stop banging the side of the bowl. I even tried adjusting it as per the manual. No luck. Had to send it back. I will receive a replacement so will see how that goes.

I purchased this new from a reputable retailer (amazon) and the beaters would not touch the bottom of the mixing bowl, no matter how I adjusted the bowl on the mixer. I read the articles and even talked to customer service, who diagnosed no other issue. I was told that, since the mixer was purchased more than a year ago, there is nothing KitchenAid can do for me. I am a busy mom of two who purchased the mixer, realized it didn't work right out of the box, and didn't have time to contact customer service to diagnose the issue until now. This is the second KitchenAid mixer I have owned with this issue. The first was a gift and also a bowl-lift mixer. At this point, I am deeply disappointed in the quality of KitchenAid products and in the company's willingness to stand by their products.

Wonderful mixer

I bought this mixer a few years ago and have used it A LOT! I'm a baker and wanted a machine powerful enough to mix bread dough without putting a strain on the motor, so when I saw this on sale at Costco I grabbed it. Unfortunately, the model I purchased came with a glass bowl, and now that I'm older that bowl is just too heavy. I contacted customer service, and the stainless steel bowl won't work with my particular model, so I just purchased a new 6 qt Professional mixer. I've been so impressed with my Pro 600 model that I was willing to spend the money on a new stand mixer just so I could get the stainless steel bowl. I'm going to gift this particular machine to a good friend who has been wanting a KitchenAid for some time. :-)

Bought this 2 weeks ago from walmart. I was so excited and have wanted on for years, finally splurged and rewarded myself to help with holiday baking. I have used it about 6 times since for small simple baking and extremely disappointed. At first I thought the motor sounded odd but chalked it up to never having one and it being normal. But now it is even worse seems like the motor is grinding and having a hard time reaching set speed even on lowest. Today i went to use it again and it wouldn't even turn on when i moved the lever after a couple times turning it on and off it would turn on but that shouldn't have to be a step every time I try and turn it on as it happened several times. Also none of the attachments reach the bottom of my bowl so I always have ingredients at the bottom I have to hand mix in. I got this model because it was bigger and came with the extra scraping mixer part but wishing I hadn't. Not sure if I should try and exchange and hope for better or just return and run away from these mixers. Are there better models?

Good machine. Good Power.

I had a K5SS for 45 years and it worked perfectly, up until the weekend. It just stopped. I tried to replace the bushings but they were not coming out - oh well. Time to upgrade. The new machine is excellent. I put it through the max test of making marshmallows where it has to spin at high speed through a large mass of thick gelatin meringue for 15 minutes. It passed the test and only good a bit hot. The meringue came out perfectly. I do agree with other reviews that it is loud. It is louder than my previous machine but then it is bigger. Just turn it on and let it go. There is an issue with the paddles not reaching all the way down and this does require more scraping however with some adjustments I was able to position the whip very near the bottom without hitting. The scraper paddle works OK but it needs more baffles on the inside - it is too open to ready be effective in mixing. Again, after some adjustments it fit better but I am finding I have to adjust the bowl for each paddle. The standard paddle just does not work well as it does not really get the edges well scraped and I do have to do a lot more edge scraping then before - but I had a very good scraper paddle with the K5SS The K5SS had a copper bowl insert but I no longer see that available on the site. Too bad. Now for my negative part. The tiny black knob on the speed control level does not fit and falls off. In fact, it fell off into my bowl during the time I was creaming butter. Not good. It just does not fit. I tried to push it back but it looks like it is either the wrong part, a bad part or a bad design. Either way it should not have passed inspection and left the factory. I am not returning it just because of this issue but it is a BLACK mark on KitchenAid to have let such a mistake leave their factory or a bad issue in design. All in all, I am happy and would recommend this to anyone. Just be aware of the noise as it can be loud.

Reliability?

I bought this a few weeks ago when my other Kitchen Pro only maybe 2 years old stopped working. I could not find a repair place near me and I literally had cookie dough in the bowl. I love KitchenAid Mixers, my first on lasted 28 years then I had a new motor put in and after 2 more years, I decided to get the larger 6 quart. They do not make them like they used to obviously. I use my mixer several times a week as I love to bake and could not be without the mixer with the Holidays on the doorstep.

I Love this mixer.

I've only had this a short time but I love this mixer so much. I have been baking like crazy and love this item more each time i use it. I read the reviews of others that had this mixer and watched the videos on youtube.com that they suggested and havent had any problems using this machine. It has so much power for bread making I havent had to take it past 3 for anything I have made. I am so happy with my purchase and would recommend this item to anyone who is getting into baking or just enjoys cooking it make life easier in the kitchen. It seems to be built well and i forsee it lasting for years to come. Thank KitchenAid for making an awesome product and I cant wait to get some attachments.

Mixen' my heart up

This is my second Kitchenaid mixer 600 series. I bought my first 25 years ago! Burned out the motor I used it so much. Cost to send it for repair was close to cost of replacement, so I went with replacement. While I was sad to have to replace it, I now have a spare bowl and mixer attachments! My daughter is away in college and she was so excited that I was getting a new one- she made me facetime with her when I opened the box!! I love KitchenAid products, they are durable, strong and they last!! The 600 series is powerful enough to handle big party events and a small batch of cookies! I love the new design of the dough hooks, mixed my brioche dough beautifully. The motor can handle sticky doughs, fluffy creams and frozen berries dumped in at the end! I also love that while I can purchase new attachments (pasta maker etc) I can still use Kitchaid parts which I inherited from my grandmother (meat grinder and veggie slicer). Very happy with my new friend!

I have had my mixer since Christmas of 2011. Just recently it stopped working (overheated) with a double batch of sugar cookie dough, honestly no reason for that. I was in the middle of processing a double batch of dough this week and now it appears the worm gear has broken. This is supposed to be a Professional mixer, while I bake from home, I don't use it more than twice a month and for years less than that. I would have expected this to last longer. Thank goodness, I saved my old, 4.5 Qt to finish what I was in the middle of making yesterday. When I used the old mixer I realized how loud the new one really was. So very disappointed that I now need to invest in another $400 mixer :(

I love my Pro 600 6 Quart KitchenAid Mixer! I am an Italian biscotti Baker, and I love how I can make 6 loaves of biscotti dough in one batch. I also can make enough French crepe batter to feed the neighborhood! Love it! I waited to buy one, because I couldn't afford the price, but knew I wanted one that I could produce more in less time. I actually had to justify the purchase with my husband, promising him I would make more goodies for him!
