Over-Temp Alarm automatically alerts you if the temperature isn't safe for cold storage. Sensors trigger the alarm if the refrigerator temperature rises above 45°F(7°C) for more than 4 hours. The alarm shuts off once temperatures return to normal.

Door Alarm automatically alerts you when the door has been left open before items inside rise above their ideal temperature. The alarm sounds after fives minutes and goes off every two minutes until the door has been closed or the controls have been pressed.

The unit is very quiet! We love it! It is used primarily for a wheelchair-bound person who can't access our standard refrigerator, and for guests in our coffee/beverage area. The ice maker was a must. There was a screw frozen into our first batch of ice but it doesn't seem to have been important! The only issue we have is that the ice in the bottom freezes into one large block of ice; then the new ice overflows and gets pushed out behind the unit and sometimes keeps the drawer from closing. A person in a wheelchair can't reach in to clear the ice jamb. It would be nice if we could set it to not make so much ice that it overflows.

A $4000 mistake...

I bought this refrigerator/freezer drawer 2 years ago almost exactly. About 4 months ago it stopped making ice. We also bought a KitchenAid fridge with an ice maker so we just let it slide as it was the middle of the winter anyway. I had a serviceman swing by last week & told me the ice maker needed to be replaced. My $4000 under counter fridge freezer didn't make it 20 months before I had to replace a $250 ice maker. I called KitchenAid to see if they could help me out with some sort of customer loyalty deal on the ice maker (I did spend roughly $15K on their products when we renovated the kitchen) and they politely said "no, there is nothing we can do." Our washing machine just kicked the bucket too & we're headed to the appliance store again...I guess we'll be trying another brand as we haven't had much luck with these guys to date.

Have had my kitchinaide undercounter frig freezer with ice maker. Perfect. Never had one problem with this appliance and it looks great in my small kitchen.

No Customer Support-Compressor Broke at 3 Months

Loved the look and convenience and worked great for 3 months. Then the compressor went out and we have not been able to replace it as the compressor has been unavailable for the last 4 months. Each time it is ordered (through KitchenAid's part distributor) we are given a date of 1 month for delivery only to be told it is further back ordered and will be delayed another month. It is a very expensive double drawer if there is no way to replace a part when it goes out. We would not recommend buying this unit but if you do buy 2 so you have replacement parts available. Based on other reviews it looks like other parts go out pretty frequently as well.

Poor design, Very disappointing, mediocre quality

I installed my KUDF204EPA fridge a few months ago. Each time I open the freezer drawer there is a TERRIBLE metal scraping sound that drives me nuts! When I have friends over they will ask me "what happened to your fridge" when they hear the startling sound. I called for the service tech to come out the day after I installed the fridge because I couldn't believe that this is the way the freezer was designed. The repairman confirmed that the scraping sounds was "completely normal for this model. The "replace filter" light turned on after just a few weeks - I can't wait to find out how much that will cost me to repair/replace. I bought this fridge because I had no other panel fridge/freezer/ice drawer options. If I could have gotten a different fridge I certainly would have done that. Do your best trying to avoid buying his fridge - it's a rip off and has several significant design flaws.
